(AP) — Jalen Wilson had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Gradey Dick made a couple of crucial baskets during a second-half run that gave Kansas control, and the third-ranked Jayhawks went on to beat Iowa State 71-58 on Friday night to reach the Big 12 Tournament title game.Dick finished with 15 points for the top-seeded Jayhawks (27-6), who fell behind early in the second half before the defending champs rallied to reach Saturday night’s title game against seventh-ranked Texas or No. 22 TCU.The Jayhawks were once again without Hall of Fame coach Bill Self, who is recovering after a hospital trip Wednesday night for what doctors with the University of Kansas Health System would only call “a standard procedure.”Longtime assistant Norm Roberts, serving as the acting coach, said Self addressed the Jayhawks remotely during breakfast and was “doing a lot better.” It’s still unclear whether he will be available to coach next week, when they begin defense ...

Frontier Airlines pays incentives to agents who charge extra baggage fees at gate

Frontier Airlines pays incentives to agents who charge extra baggage fees at gate DENVER (KDVR) — Frontier Airlines is under fire from passengers after it came out that their policy to charge at the gate for larger bags is an incentive for agents. The budget airline's policy for baggage is that passengers are entitled to one personal item that measures certain dimensions, such as purses, totes, computer bags, briefcases, diaper bags and kids’ backpacks. Southern Colorado has 6 earthquakes in 24 hours, region’s strongest in a decade Those who bring in larger bags for their personal item are subject to a fee at the gate. FOX31 was told by passengers that the fee is $100. But with that fee, the agent who levied the charge, Frontier said, does get compensated for it. This all happens at the gate, so it's either pay or don't fly.Frontier responds about baggage charge at gateFrontier said there's a reason behind the compensation.“It is simply an incentive for our airport customer service agents to help ensure compliance with our policies and that all customers are tre...

Bennet makes his case for a national TikTok ban DENVER (KDVR) — There is one thing uniting both Democrats and Republicans in Washington D.C. right now: a potential ban on the social media app TikTok.Two Colorado congressmen, Rep. Ken Buck and Sen. Michael Bennet, are leading the push to ban the app. Their concern is that the Chinese government could use the app to spy on Americans and maybe even use it for espionage. Gun reform debate heats up at the Colorado Capitol Bennet talked with "Colorado Point of View" anchor Matt Mauro about TikTok and the growing national security threat China poses.“Tiktok is wholly owned by ByteDance. ByteDance is completely subject to the Chinese Communist Party’s rules on data. And they can suck that privacy whenever they want,” Bennet said. He also said he confirmed that with the head of TikTok U.S.Bennet also said that the average American spends three weeks a year on TikTok.“I think the American people have something better to do with their time,” Bennet said. “I have seen an epidemic in Colora...

At 105, Colorado veteran is West Point’s oldest living graduate HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (KDVR) – The staff at Windcrest Senior Living center opted for three wax numbers instead of 105 candles. A culture of secrecy is obstructing British historians

A culture of secrecy is obstructing British historians Andrew Lownie is one of Britain’s leading literary agents and the author of “Stalin’s Englishman: The Lives of Guy Burgess,” “The Mountbattens: Their Lives and Loves” and “Traitor King: The Scandalous Exile of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.”Documents are the lifeblood of historians. And while many of these documents will come from private collections of papers — all with their own problems of access — many will come from public archives. In Britain, this is most notably the National Archives at Kew, outside London.Subject to some Freedom of Information (FOI) exemptions, in the United Kingdom, government records must by law be deposited in the National Archives after 20 years — but this is not what is happening, and much of it is down to a continuing culture of secrecy in Whitehall.Whereas in America the assumption is that everything should be released unless there are strong grounds to withhold documents, such as national security or data protection, the complete opposite mi...

Putting the T to the test with bike ride to Braintree 7NEWS put the T to the test on Friday, sending two crews from Park Street station to Braintree. One took the Red Line while the other rode a bike, setting out to see who could make the trip faster. The team started their trip just before 5 p.m. Friday when most people leave work. Only nine minutes into the trip, the T had traveled one stop to Downtown Crossing. 7NEWS photographer Dusty made it into the South End. At 5:30 p.m., Dusty and the bike were more than two stops ahead of the train. Dusty said he started to slow down as he entered Quincy. Still, the train remained behind Dusty just before 6 p.m. as it entered Wollaston station in Quincy. In the final stretch, the T pulled ahead, beating the bike to Braintree by a narrow margin. The Red Line commute took 1:06 from Park Street to Braintree. Dusty got there in 1:10 on the bike. Though only slightly slower, Dusty said the ride on the bike was very different from a ride on the train. “On the T, I’m sitting ...

Winderman’s view: An inspiring night for Heat, but with limited Love

Winderman’s view: An inspiring night for Heat, but with limited Love Observations and other notes of interest from Friday night’s 119-115 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers:– The Kevin Love singing made sense from a known-quantity perspective.– Understood.– But for every action, there is an opposing reaction.– Friday night, the opposing reaction was the Cavaliers putting 6-foot-3 Donovan Mitchell defensively on 6-8 Love.– That allowed the Cavaliers’ Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley to concentrate on greater defensive concerns.– The Heat counter was to get Love in the paint at times.– Which is not his game.– And also clogs the paint for Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.– With opponents surely to take note in the playoffs/play-in.– If Love is not converting threes, he can be as much of a liability on the offensive end as the defensive end.– The Cavaliers certainly were aware of how to handle Love.– And might well have offered a blueprint.– Trevor Ariza 2.0?– Love...
