Travelers and commuters can ride for free on L.A. Metro during upcoming holidays.The transportation agency said its free ride promotion is returning as part of an annual holiday tradition.On the night of Sunday, Dec. 24, aka, Christmas Eve, rides on Metro buses and trains will be entirely free between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Rides will be free the following week on New Year's Eve during those same hours. 34-Year-Old Man Killed in DUI Collision near West 7th StreetHOUSTON, TX (December 16, 2023) – Devin Wold lost his life Thursday night, and Sherry Ann Parsons faced arrest following a DUI crash.Law enforcement arrived at the scene around 11:35 p.m. on November 30th, located in the 700 block of North Shepherd Drive.Officers say 32-year-old Parsons was operating a white Mitsubishi Outlander in the northbound lanes against the flow of traffic. SAN JOSE — A surge of intense rain Monday appears to have caused a power outage covering a huge swath of the center of San Jose and disrupting service to thousands of people, PG&E reported.The outage, which reportedly began at 1:02 p.m., affected 18,404 customers, according to an online outage map maintained by the utility. Its footprint goes as far north as San Jose State University downtown, south to the Santa Clara County fairgrounds, west to the edges of Willow Glen, and as far east as McLaughlin Avenue.PG&E estimated that service would be restored beginning at 3:30 p.m. An exact cause for the outage was not immediately announced.This is a developing story. Scattered showers are expected to continue through this evening with additional bands of widespread rain expected Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Monday's wet weather will hit in waves throughout the day.A heavy band drenched the Bay Area overnight Sunday into Monday prompting several flood advisories this morning in the North Bay that have since expired.
